Coca-Cola made a goal that every drop of water they used, they would give it back. Not only did they achieve this goal, they achieved it five years ahead of when they planned. The goal to redistribute the water they used was announced in 2007 and was planned to be done in the year 2020. Many doubted that Coca-Cola would ever able to achieve this goal. One of the many people that doubted them was Amit Srivastana, a global resistance director at the global justice group India Resource center claimed that their goal of water neutrality could never be achieved. However, with the help of 248 community water partnerships in 71 countries, Coca-Cola returned 191.9 billions of water to nature or human communities which was a total of 115% of water it used in its beverages that year. Coca-Cola's policy is ensuring plants do not harm water sources which they have clearly done since they announced their goal in 2007.
I feel that Coca-Cola took a big step in neutralizing the amount of water they use. Coca-Cola being a multi-billion corporation, was able to take a stance on an issue that mattered. Instead of overlooking their excess water use, they addressed their use of water and turned it around in a positive direction. Coca-Cola taking a stance will hopefully encourage other corporations to make a positive impact.
