Scottish power called for coal to be excluded from UK's market capacity scheme. Five days after this occured, tax payer funded subsidies with a value of $72.8 million were given to coal factories. The government is supposedly supposed to cancel out coal by 2025, yet are still funding coal factories. The Transitional National Plan grants coal plants permission to pollute above EU limits. The government keeps contradicting itself with what they say and what is done which lets coal live on.
I think that the government feels the pressure to get rid of coal but does not want to. They act as if they are being the good guys but then contradict what they say. It shows how corrupt the government can be where they value a good economy over a good environment and somewhat fake how much they value the environment. Only time will tell if this is really true especially with the deadline placed on coal for 2025.
