Two major regulations that Republicans are trying to overturn include federal regulations around coal mining and methane leaks. Congress can easily wipe out these regulations through the 1996 Congressional Review Act. This means that Congress can overturn any ruling enacted by Obama after mid-June 2016. The five rules Congress is trying to overturn this week include the stream protection rule for coal mining, the methane waste rule, the "resource extraction" rule, the "blacklisting rule" for contractors, and the Social Security gun rule. Trump is expected to approve all these moves.
I think that there needs to be more checks on how the government works because it is too easy for one party to run the country. It is too corruptible to let one specific group of people run the country and I think there needs to be more opinions involved in anything that could cause potential damage. Every decision will affect our future and I think we need to take that seriously before doing any major action.
