1,300 researchers signed a letter addressed to Trudeau to improve environmental conditions. One main action suggested is to have the government adopt the release of a full public disclosure of how science, facts, and evidence are weighed in each decision. On top of that 200 scholars urged the prime minister to construction of Site C hydroelectric dam in North British Colombia. Many express deep concern and fear that their voices will not be heard even with the protests and outcries from scientists.
I think a fundamental concept for any government in any country is to listen to the people. In this situation, it seems that the people are being completely disregarded and only officials voices are being heard. This is sad because the qualified people that know what they are talking about struggle to get their point across. The numbers of 1,300 researchers and 200 scholars reaching out to government shows there is a current problem that should not be overlooked for the environment's sake. It is sad a lot of times the government places the economy over the environment.
